Investment Strategy
Dunedin LLP, based in Edinburgh and London, is a lower mid-market growth buyout investor, backing best-in-class, UK-headquartered businesses, often with a very strong international presence. 70% of our current fund revenues are international. We have a strong Origination function and focus on two sectors and related sub-sectors: Business Services and Niche Financial Services. We look for real excellence at the core of the businesses we back and work closely and collaboratively with management teams to deliver strong growth. Dunedin targets UK buyouts with a deal size of £20m to £100m and make equity investments from £15m to £60m.
ESG Policy
We are a Responsible Investor, committed to working alongside our portfolio companies to ensure that environmental, social and governance considerations are integrated within each of their operations. We include ESG data for each of our portfolio companies in a dedicated section of our investor quarterly reports and conduct an annual ESG audit on every company in our portfolio. ESG must be a portfolio board agenda item at a regular interval, with senior ownership and oversight and a direct line to Dunedin at Partner level.
ESG in its entirety is always considered prior to any new investment opportunity and a risk matrix must be completed by the deal team in conjunction with senior management at the target investment company. It is thereafter consistently monitored, and we take a pro-active approach to all aspects of ESG, viewing strong principles as being core to a well-performing business.
Our Team
People are at the heart of our business and relationships with our investors and our portfolio companies are core to what we do. We strive to be the best in our market in terms of delivering transparent, detailed and timely communications to our investors. Located in Edinburgh and London, we have a very stable new investment team with in excess of 200 years’ combined private equity experience.
Our Managed Funds
Dunedin has over £400m committed and under management with our funds being backed by 40 institutional investors across the UK, Europe and US. Our latest fund, Dunedin Buyout Fund III, closed at its hard cap of £300m, considerably exceeding the target of £250m.
